I don't have a great deal of red fabric in my stash. I do like reds, but I never wear red, as I find it can be tricky to get the right shade. I prefer (and suit) cool toned colours, and red is almost always warm. Nevertheless, I have seen and loved enough red and pink or red and aqua quilts in blogland to want to buy some. The fabrics above are by, from top to bottom, Michael Miller, Cosmo Cricket, Amy Butler and Sandi Henderson but, whilst I really do love the patterns and, indeed, the reds in these fabrics, I have been slightly disappointed to realise, upon receiving each package, that the backgrounds are much more creamy-yellowy than they appear on a computer screen. In fact, the background of the cherry fabric is positively sandy in colour. Shades that are just not me.
Of course, that is a risk you take when buying fabric online, and I do hope that I will find the perfect project for these fabrics at some point. However, I am thinking about maybe swapping some of them - there is a Fat Quarter Stash Swap being arranged over at the Little Pink Room, so I might sign up for that.
