Yesterday after school I had a meeting with Joe's Senco, just to have a catch up on where things are at with him and how things should be progressing over the next year or so. The good news is that, aside from the odd blip here and there, he has had a fairly good year and made some progress - as at February his writing level was finally up to a National Curriculum level 1C! (That's still very behind where he ought to be for his age, but it's better than it was last year, so that's a positive!) Hopefully, the testing they did last week will show some more progress. He will continue to get his 7 hours a week one-to-one help, but in Year 4 the learning steps up another gear, which he may well struggle with, so the Senco suspects that may be when we will have to think about whether or not a Statement would be appropriate. Basically, another case of "wait and see". We won't know yet who his teacher next year will be, probably not for another month or so, so fingers crossed we get another good 'un!
We're on half term next week, so will be taking it fairly easy, as usual, and then it'll be into the long stretch of 7 weeks til the end of the year - let's hope it flies by!
