Oh, now see, I've gone and made myself fancy a crunchie, but no, I'm being good, but more on that in a mo.
It's Friday and the kids break up for half term today. Although it seems to have gone quite quickly, I know it's been a long term for Joe and he really needs the break. I had a good meeting with the senco on Wednesday, but we are going to start the process of trying to get a statement (which will probably take at least 6 months). We are also going to pursue the possibility that he may be a bit ADD as well. There was a question mark over this when he was diagnosed, and it was thought then that it was probably just part of the Aspergers, but we could come back to it later if we felt it was an issue. He is still very fidgety in class (and at home) and really struggles to concentrate so the senco felt it was worth looking into, just in case. So we have to start the whole process again for that, which could also take months. It's rather daunting, to say the least. But I'm not going to dwell on that over the holiday. Peter will be off work too, so we will have some nice family time.
Anyway, onto the weigh-in. I have surprised myself this week and been really good! Now, let me just say straight off that I am not "dieting". The word does not exist in my vocabulary (read: Rachel has no will power and is too greedy to ever deny herself anything!) but I am just trying to be more aware of what I am eating. My biggest problem is, and always has been, snacking. I am a champion grazer and, unfortunately, my fodder of choice does tend to be anything with sugar in it. If there are sweets or cakes in the house then I will eat them and, if not, well, I can just make myself some, can't I? But I am trying to change that and I have managed surprisingly well this week! I'm still eating my normal meals (and not always particularly healthy ones at that!) but, when I weighed myself this morning I appear to have lost 2lbs! Exercise-wise, I've played the Just Dance game about 4 times this week, for about 20-30 mins each time. Easing myself into the exercise slowly - there probably won't be much opportunity next week, with everyone home, but I'm going to try and keep it up, and try and step it up a notch too. So, all in all, not a bad start.
Now, I can't have a post without a pretty picture, can I? Look what arrived this morning...
These are from the Peacock Lane range and were purchased from The Fat Quarter Shop. Oh my goodness, they are absolutely divine! (I'm talking squealing-when-you-open-the-parcel type of divine!) I managed to snag these with a discount of 50% which meant that I got three whole yards for less than 20 quid! Result! The Fat Quarter Shop regularly post huge discounts like this on Twitter, so it is really worth signing up and following them, even if you never use it for anything else!
Right, off to get some lunch now. Have a great weekend!
