After more than a few false starts, I have finally got going with my new yarn. I am using the one row scarf pattern, available on Ravelry here. It's very easy, just four stitches to repeat over and over again, which suits my brain just fine - I can pretty much switch off and just stitch without having to think about it! I made it about 10.5" wide and the idea is that I will make it long enough to just go round my neck and then join the ends to turn it into a cowl rather than a scarf. I hope it works... I wear scarves quite alot around the house in the winter but the dangly ends do sometimes get in the way (usually when I'm washing up - urgh!) I'm very happy with how it's looking so far - I must have tried about 5 or 6 different patterns before settling on this one! (There was a gorgeous pattern on The Purl Bee, which would have looked fabulous if I'd stuck with it, but was very hard on my fingers - lots of knitting 2 stitches together and, as my tension seems to be quite tight, it was really quite tough and I just couldn't face carrying on with it. Maybe another time...)
The kids are both home today due to the industrial action (well, I say both kids, one of them dissappeared off to his mate's house as soon as he could!) so I will be trying to get J to do some homework later. Hopefully it won't be quite as stressful as it usually is when we have to tackle it after school!
Enjoy your day, whatever you're doing!
