Sorry it's taken me so long to do this, the quilt has been finished and sitting, all folded up in my bedroom for a couple of weeks, waiting for the right moment for it's photo shoot! Today the sun is out so I grabbed my quilt-holding assistant just before he went out, for a quick couple of shots in the garden.
Made using a layer cake of Mama Said Sew and simple, big, half square triangles. I think it measures around 52x60" so a decent lap size quilt, good for snuggling up on the sofa. I hand quilted either side of the diagonal seams using some silvery grey perle 8 cotton, which you can see much better on the back.
It looks pretty puckered in that photo, but it's not, honest! That's just where it's been folded up. The quilting is pretty sparse because, I'll be honest with you, I got fed up with it. For some reason I was having real trouble when I had to start and finish in the middle of a line of stitching, just could not get those knots to pop through the fabric nicely, and I think that made me want to just get it done as quick as possible! (Jeez, I feel like I just confessed to some hideous crime!) But the batting I used (Quilters Dream) can be quilted up to 8" apart so I figured it would be ok.
My sewing mojo is still a bit hit and miss at the moment. At the point where I was almost finished with this quilt, I had a ton of ideas going round my head and was itching to get started but I decided to sleep on them a couple of days and, of course, the urge upped and left me again!! So I have no idea what or when I will be making next. Maybe I'll have a play with fabric this week (half term - so I don't have to feel guilty if J doesn't do any "work"!) and see what happens.
