Whilst the search for a dog is continuing, last weekend we were lucky enough to have a little visitor come to stay, when some friends appealed on Facebook for someone to look after their dog that weekend.
H is the loveliest little dog you could imagine. Considering she had never been to our house, or even met any of us before, she settled in incredibly well. The first night was a bit unsettled, with her coming up the stairs, whining and scratching at our door a few times, but the second night was much better. (Although she did creep upstairs and sleep outside our bedroom door, but she didn't disturb us at all). It was so great to be able to have a "trial run" at having a dog, from the logistics of where she would sleep and where her food bowls would go, to the fun of taking her out for walks and giving her lots of cuddles. J was thrilled to bits at having a furry friend to stay, and I think we were all a bit sad when it was time for her to go home again!
I think she set the bar quite high for the search for our own dog - she was the perfect size, didn't bark or chew up any of our belongings, didn't wee in the house (which I did think might happen due to her being anxious about being left) and was incredibly affectionate with everyone! Hopefully we will find one just as lovely very soon.
