I don't usually go in for new year's resolutions, but I like the idea of having a "word" for the year, and this year, the word "balance" sprang to mind immediately. As happy as I was with how last year went, I did feel that some areas of my life got sidelined somewhat, so I'd just like to try and keep a better balance this year. Amongst other things that means more time for blogging, more time for sewing and more time for friends as well. I've certainly got off to a good start with the sewing, as I have finally finished the quilt top that I've been working on. Since I last posted about it here, I have added a bit extra to both the width and the length, plus a border, which I finished this morning. I did mitred corners on the border for the first time, and I think I just about pulled it off! The first one was ok, but the second needed to be unpicked and done again, and the last two went without a hitch, so I felt pretty pleased about that!
Unfortunately, this is the best shot you're going to get of seeing the whole top! It's pouring with rain outside and, as this is a big quilt in a small house, I can't actually find anywhere to snap it where I can get far enough back to fit the whole thing in the frame! I am definitely going to send it off to be basted, once I've figured out what to do with the back.
Now I need to try and get myself back into some kind of routine. Hubby went back to work on Thursday, W is back at school on Tuesday so J and I will be trying to get back into the home school groove next week. And thanks for the well wishes for Rufus - he is feeling much better!
