Today is World Autism Awareness Day. As some of you will know, our youngest son, J, has Aspergers/High Functioning Autism. I don't write about it often here, and at some point I may get round to writing in more detail about it, but raising awareness and acceptance is so important that I just wanted to share a couple of links for you today.
I Stand Quietly: You may have seen this already as it has been spreading through social media like wildfire - a poem written by the mother of a 7yr old with autism, and the rest of her blog is well worth a read too.
This article about the challenges of high functioning autism gives a very close description of some the difficulties J has on a daily basis.
It would be great if you could take the time to click through and have a read, and maybe share them yourselves. Thank you so much.
