Hello you! How have you all been? I do feel like I've been a little "absent" the last few weeks, what with the kids off school etc, and I just haven't been finding enough time for as much blogging as I'd like, but now that they are back to school I can settle back into my routine and hopefully get back here a bit more often. I have lots to catch up on! So without further ado, let me tell you about the Doll Quilt Swap. I got my quilt and extra goodies parcelled up and sent out on time, and it was then pretty nervewracking waiting to find out if it arrived safely, as it was going to the other side of the world in Australia! Luckily, it got there safely and it's new owner, Rose, really loved what I had sent her. She had commented several times on the progress pictures that I had posted in the Flickr group, so I felt fairly confident that what I was making would go down well, but it was still such a lovely feeling when she emailed me to say she had received it and loved it all! In the meantime, I had also received the quilt that was made for me.
I had seen this quilt in the group pool but honestly had no idea that it was for me, so it was a complete surprise when I opened it. It's very pretty and beautifully made - the flowers are actually 3D which you can't really tell from the photo. My partner, Naomi, also sent me some lovely flower fairy fabric and butterfly decals,
This was such a fun swap to take part in, and I shall definitely be signing up for the next one!
Now, you might think that was the end of it - I sent my quilt and received one in return - but no! This morning another little parcel landed on the doormat, containing a lovely, surprise thank you gift from Rose!
A beautiful mini quilt/placemat and some pieces of Dolce fabric for my stash! Thank you Rose, such a lovely surprise!
So, now that the doll quilt swap is over (for me at least) until the next round, I was very excited to see a new swap being started on Flickr, for "mug rugs"! What's a mug rug you ask? Well, it's an oversized fabric coaster that has room for a cup of tea AND a biscuit (or two!) Of course, I signed up for this one as well, the posting date is the first week in October so it's a nice, easy little swap to keep us going until the next DQS after Christmas. I haven't even started on this swap yet, but have been checking out my partner's photostream for some ideas. And I got in a little practice when I made this "rug" for my mum's birthday, yesterday.
Apart from that, there are no other swaps in the pipeline, but I have more than enough on my to-do list to keep me busy - birthdays to sort out, Christmas stockings to make for my shop, a quilt for Will to be finished and now two baby quilts to make (just found out yesterday that my dear friend is expecting her first baby next Spring so very excited about that!) as well as all the other, boring, day-to-day household stuff! Guess I'd better get on with it then!
Have a great week!
