I thought it might be useful to put together a list of the suppliers I use most frequently. I shall probably add to it, as and when, but if you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask.
FABRIC:
I really like buying fabric from the States - there is such a vast selection of designs to choose from, that often can't be found in the UK, plus it often works out a lot cheaper than buying from the UK - you just have to keep an eye on exchange rates and be careful not to spend too much and incur customs charges.
Pink Chalk Fabrics - www.pinkchalkfabrics.com Great range of designers, plus brilliant Kona cottons, and masses of patterns too. Fab service. Average price $9 per yard for patterns, the kona cotton is about $4.95 per yard. Kathy also blogs at http://pinkchalkstudio.com/blog/
Z&S Fabrics - www.zandsfabrics.com Again a very wide range of fabric lines and a lot cheaper than some other shops (average fabric is about $7-$8 per yard), plus a big sale section. They have frequent sales too with 10-15% off.
The Quilt Room - www.quiltroom.co.uk This shop is based in Dorking in the UK. Good fabric ranges, plus loads of other quilting accessories - this is where I buy quilt batting.
Fresh Squeezed Fabrics - www.freshsqueezedfabrics.etsy.com A fab etsy seller - gorgeous fabrics sold by the yard or in bundles (prices are around $7.99 per yard) - or Randi will make up a custom bundle for you on request. Zipit - www.zipit.etsy.com U.S. based zipper supplier - fab zips in every colour of the rainbow and every size you could want. Very cheap
YARN:
Colinette - www.colinette.co.uk Beautiful hand dyed yarns in lots of colours & varieties. Their Jitterbug sock yarn is gorgeous.
Modern Knitting - www.modernknitting.co.uk Great range of yarns and very reasonably priced. P&P is only £1.50 or free if you spend over £15
Babylonglegs - www.folksy.com/shops/babylonglegs Gorgeous hand dyed yarns. I've actually only had one lot of sock yarn from this seller but it was fabulous - certainly as nice as the Colinette jitterbug yarn, if not nicer, so had to include it in this list!
