Yesterday was the long awaited school summer fair. We had a glorious day for it although, I confess, I found it a bit too hot, even though I was parked under a parasol.
I had lots of lovely comments, but only made a few sales - after paying for my stall I only made about 20 quid so better than nothing but I must admit to being a little disappointed. People just don't seem to want to actually buy stuff at this kind of event, they just want to play the games, and alot of the older girls that I was hoping would be tempted by my little purses and brooches were notable by their absence too.
I did, at least, win a Body Shop shampoo & conditioner in the tombola though! And the kids had a great time as always. William came along to help set up and was also helping to run the human fruit machine stall. There was also a huge water fight at the end, where they all got completely soaked! My mum took Joe round the fair which was a little trickier - he had got so excited by the thought of it, but really struggles with the games, not the taking part but the not winning side of it. Even on a game where there was a prize every time, he got upset because he didn't win the big prize. But I think he enjoyed himself. There was a local gym there with some new children's equipment - mini stepper, treadmill and bike etc - which the kids were allowed to try out and Joe absolutely loved it! He kept going back for another go, so we took a leaflet about the classes and I think we might go along and give it a try.
We were all pretty pooped by the time we got home. I'm not sure that I'll bother doing this again at Christmas, but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained! And at least now I have lots of stuff to put in my Folksy shop!
